Benedict Cumberbatch is an English actor and the son of actors Timothy Carlton and Wanda Ventham, who trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art after studying drama at the University of Manchester. Sherlock made him an international star, and he has since gone on to major film roles including Doctor Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Smaug in The Hobbit trilogy, and an Oscar-nominated turn in The Power of the Dog.
