Set between 1965 and 1972, Endeavour takes viewers back to the formative years of one of British television’s most beloved detectives. After leaving Oxford University without completing his degree and a brief stint in the Royal Corps of Signals, the young Endeavour Morse joins the Oxford City Police and quickly rises to CID. Though brilliant and intellectually gifted, Morse is unconventional, often clashing with authority while refusing to compromise his principles to please either his superiors or society’s expectations.

Under the mentorship of the steadfast and similarly incorruptible Detective Inspector Fred Thursday, Morse investigates a series of complex and often convoluted cases against the backdrop of a changing Britain. The series captures the cultural shifts of the swinging sixties and early seventies, from social upheaval to the Cold War, weaving these historical elements into intricate murder mysteries. Oxford itself becomes a character in the show, with its dreaming spires, ancient colleges, and town-versus-gown tensions providing atmospheric locations for each investigation.
